Scottish Parliament Highlands and Islands Regional Constituency
The Scottish Parliament was first elected in 1999 on Westminster constituency boundaries. In 2011 most constituencies underwent some kind of boundary change. The Highlands and Islands has 8 constituencies elected first
past the post and 7 regional list members elected by AMS also known as the de Hont electoral system. Special consideration was given to ensure the Islands Areas have one first past the post constituency member each.
The Highlands and Islands Regional Constituency provided the parliament's Interim Presiding Officer.
"The Scottish Parliament, adjourned in 1707, is hereby reconvened".
